Step 1: Prepare the Oreo Crust
Crush the Oreos: Place 24 Oreo cookies (filling included) in a food processor and pulse until you get fine crumbs. No food processor? No worries! Place the cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Mix with Butter: In a mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with 5 tablespoons of melted butter. Stir until the mixture resembles wet sand.
Press into the Pan: Transfer the mixture to a 9x9-inch baking dish or pie pan. Use the back of a spoon or your fingers to press it firmly into an even layer. Pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
Step 2: Create the Ice Cream Layer
Soften the Ice Cream: Let 1 quart of vanilla ice cream sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes until it’s soft enough to spread but not melted.
Spread the Ice Cream: Remove the crust from the freezer and evenly spread the softened ice cream over the Oreo layer. Use a spatula to smooth the top.
Add Whipped Cream: Gently spread 1 cup of whipped cream over the ice cream layer for an extra creamy texture.
Step 3: Freeze and Set
Freeze the Dessert: Cover the dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until fully set. Overnight is even better for a firmer texture.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Top with Whipped Cream: Once the dessert is set, spread another cup of whipped cream over the top.
Garnish with Oreos: Crush or halve 6-8 Oreo cookies and sprinkle them over the whipped cream. Drizzle with chocolate syrup or add sprinkles for a festive touch.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
Slice and Serve: Use a sharp knife to cut into squares or slices. For clean cuts, dip the knife in hot water and wipe it clean between slices.
Store Leftovers: Cover any leftovers tightly and store them in the freezer for up to a week.
